Remembering Helen Frankenthaler..

Art books. I get inspiration from leafing through pages of art and stories about artists.
It's fascinating to see how unique an artist can get with simple supplies.
Just playing around, splashing color, mixing, diluting......emoting
One such inspiration for me is Helen Frankenthaler, died just the other day, 83 years old.
She explored using bare canvas and stains...set the stage for the rest of us.
.... big beautiful crazy stained canvases.
I discovered her a while back in a art book belonging to my daughter.
Then, of course, I had to experiment with the process.
Bare canvas, watered down acrylics, and the element of air.
[part of my ongoing elemental woman series]
I wish I could have met her.....

the beverage cart...

It's always a welcome sight coming down the aisle.
The beverage cart....
water, coffee, tea, juices, soft drinks,
beer, liquor and wine for a small fee,
and would you care for a complimentary snack?
How about a headset? movie is about to start...
flashing a pleasant smile
a wave of the cocktail napkin
and they are off ... leaving a trail of contentment behind

ipod...no charge

It was a long flight for me.
Needed two books to read, sudoku puzzles, sketch book,
sharpies, hard boiled egg, Rolling Stone magazine,
and a battery fully charged IPOD.
Reached for that IPOD and GASP! no battery power!!
It took me a minute to recover...give myself a lecture
on being flexible (my inner yogi)
Virginia Woolf, haiku
& a series of shorts on the best guitar players
clear early evening sky landing in Portland
great veiws of Mount Hood
Mount Shasta
holiday decorations everywhere
and the found electrical outlet
charge it up!

Thermometer is dipping. Winter is here.
Got my big ole furry house slippers on, enormous fleece robe.
The big heavy coats out of storage.
Leaves have been raked.
Been cookin the comfort food.....
Picked up my very full heavy laundry basket the other day and there it was. Perfectly mummified
It must have been dead for a while, way past it's season now.
A remnant of warm wind, the noise of insects, sandals....
a nice little gift, beautiful
Now let's see what magic winter will conjure up for us....

Stay warm!!!
